Abstract:China currently works out the ratio of export volume to GDP in terms of US dollars. In 1994, China's volume of export amounted to $121 billion, GDP 4380 billion yuan while the annual average rate of exchange was $100: 861.87 yuan, which means that the ratio of volume of export GDP was 23.8 percent that year. Compared with such developed countries as the United States, Germany and Britain, this ratio was believed to be "unbelievably high". This analysis was one- sided. These is, however, some comparability between China and developing countries and regions in the ratio of volume of export to GDP.
