Abstract:Soon all the pieces of the Web's commercial infrastructure will be on place, providing competitive online selling to consumers. Consumers will have digital ID as forgery-proof as fingerprints. By the end of the decade online retail sales could soar tenfold while business-to-business transactions could explode by a factor of 100. A standard protocol for credit card purchases on Web will soon be established. This secure electronic transaction (SET) will be rapidly incorporated into industrialstrencht merchantware .
