| Abstract: | By using the tabu search metaheuristic, this paper shows the solution to the problem of locating ambulance bases in Spain. An adequate time of response ought to be guaranteed for each area in the covered region, incurring the operating costs in minimum, in the location of ambulance bases. For designing emergency systems, some linear models have been developed, for example the maximal covering location problem (MCLP). For the design of the distribution of ambulance bases which are to be located in a specific region, good solutions can be found in short computional times when using MCLP. |
