Abstract:The difficulties in the business of industrial enterprises in 1996 found expression in the following: There were not many orders for products. The production met with obstruction. The use rate of equipment was lower. There existed a serious stockpile of products due to the poor marketing. Too much funds were taken up by finished products for near half of the enterprises. Arrears in loan increased and the turnover of capital was not normal. The level of earning profits was declining. Economic returns were poor. 48% of state-owned enterprises were loss-making ones. Enterprises' intention of investment was weakening and lacked confidence. In 1997, the production and business of industrial enterprise will depend on the macro economic environment , the adjustment of industrial structure and the process of enterprises' reform.
