| Abstract: | Training delivered in the workplace by colleagues and supervisors is often dismissed with the derogatory epithet 'sitting by Nellie'. Despite its low profile, the 'sitting by Nellie' method of training is still a major way of communicating expertise in many jobs. This article looks at how companies such as Ilford and McDonald's use their 'Nellies' to maximum effect. |
