| Abstract: | Labour standard has often been mentioned as one of the new issues to be tackled in the multilateral trading system. Some developed countries wanted to extend the WTO's articles in the direction of incorporating social clauses. Some of them argued that at least different labour standards should be allowed depending on the stage of development. It has met with strong opposition from most developing countries who regard the issue as a form of disguised protectionism. |
