Abstract: | It is suitable to define China's urbanization level at 50% or so during a quite period of time. We should not seek blindly high indicators and high proportion for China's national conditions are different from the Western countries'. This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of many factors such as large base figure of rural population, limited cultivated land resources, scale of investment, limited financial and material resources and the pressure of urban environment, capacity, population, and transportation. Then it considers that the more suitable proportion of urbanization should be 36%-40% in the short run (2010), 45%-50% in the long-run (2030-2040). |
