Abstract: | It is time for traditional organizations to welcome a powerful tool they have consistently disdained: the goal-focused, impassioned hot group. Unlike teams, hot groups are not a 1980s Japanese import. Their organizational origins lie in the startups of Silicon Valley and Route 128. Like those startups, they are usually young, vigorous, single-minded, and desire-spectful. They are frustrated by what they see as the "bureaucratic nonsense" of life in large organizations. Hot groups are tough-minded, not touchy-feely. |
