Abstract:Slowly though Latvian industry has been growing since 1995 the rise is there. The picking up is nevertheless largely conditional of what sectors the Western investments are injected in, and where they are not. Technological progress, which continually increases labor productivity, creates significant changes in the economic structure of any country. Prior to the restoration of independence in 1991, Latvia's industry was part of the Soviet economic complex, aimed at the production of electronics, radio and communication resources, chemical and pharmaceutical products, foodstuffs and heavy machinery.
