Abstract:In this paper the author states that the vision to build a corporate citadel in London's Docklands was shattered by the great property recession of the early 1990s. But now big city names are again clamoring to take up residence in Canary Wharf. It is growing fast and the buzz is back. The author answers the question what went right and reports on the Canary Wharf urban redevelopment project in London, England, as of June 2001. The paper also attracts the reader's attention on a background on the urban real estate development and the author considers the problems faced by the project since it started in the year 1981.
