| Abstract: | The pressure to find more cost-effective and consumer- responsive solutions to supply-chain issues in a global market has encouraged closer collaboration between retailers and manufacturers in recent years. This article is based on a feature in the CIES publication FoodBusiness News, October 2001, by Gustauo Trompiz. Driving efficiency and best practice in supply-chain management are uncontested priorities in the food sector after a decade of Efficient Consumer Response. Now a new initiative overseen by CIES (The Food Business Forum) is aiming to help companies match the pace of change in global retail with comprehensive benchmarking analysis. The authors answer the question - what the implications for the supply chain are. |
