Abstract:The authors of the article consider the trend of Finnish businesses moving into franchising and state that it has gained further momentum. The study provides new insights into franchisee experiences by exploring franchisees' entrepreneurial characteristics and the advantages and disadvantages they encounter in operating their business. First, the article provides a discussion of advantages and disadvantages faced by franchisees in running a franchise. This is followed by a review of past studies of entrepreneurial characteristics among franchisees. Next, the findings of the empirical analysis will be reported. This leads to a discussion section outlining the main conclusions. The final part takes a brief look at the implications of the study for franchising research, education and practice.
