Abstract: | This paper provides a simple model illustrating the possible nature of government policy to genetic modification and its impact on the environment. It is shown that it is necessary to intervene in the growing of crops and in R&D through a tax on the adoption of genetically modifying (GM) technology. Without intervention, socially optimal levels will be exceeded. |
