Abstract:The model presented in this article indicates that the average U.S. hotel lost 4.9 percent in market value in 2001, primarily due to the events of September 11. The model also indicates that tne average hotel will return to its 200 value by 2003. However, limited-service midscale hotels will recover more quickly, while upscale and upper upscale hotels will recover more slowly.
