Abstract:This article describes the process for putting theory into practice to build knowledge management (KM) systems. It begins by discussing the authors' definition of KM and describes their theoretical foundation for developing systemic solutions for organizations to manage their knowledge. Next, described is the process for creating a KM strategy and how the authors design the technological aspects of a KM system enabling organizations to achieve their KM strategy. The article also describes how to provide training on the completed system and the organizational development interventions necessary to ensure that management and the members of the organization support the strategy. The article concludes by providing an example scenario to illustrate how the resulting KM system would operate in an organization's work environment.
