Abstract: | Business travelers to high-risk destinations can reduce their vulnerability to danger by taking some elementary precautions. The paper considers Mikhail Khodorkovsky the Russia's richest man. His estimated fortune of $7bn, a result of his stake in Yukos Oil, Russia's second-biggest oil producer, makes him a target for kidnappers. As a result he cannot travel anywhere without three bodyguards. Not many people could say they were in the same league as Khodorkovsky, but the risks for travelers doing business abroad, particularly in such high risk locations as the countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU), the Middle East, Pakistan, India and Colombia, are well reported. The paper advisees to be prepared and provides some security 'top tips'. |
