Abstract:The analogy between business networks and biological ecosystems highlights certain pivotal concepts. Stand-alone strategies don't work when your company's success depends on the collective health of the organizations that influence the creation and delivery of your product. Knowing what to do requires understanding the ecosystem and your organization's role in it. Is your company a niche player, a keystone, or a dominator? Included are examples from Wal-Mart and Microsoft.
