Abstract: | Today, generation and dissipation of knowledge (hereafter as: kn.) can no longer be understood from within the boundaries of formal organizational mechanisms (here as: mechs). Previously, knowledge management (KM) has been studied based on formal mechs. However, the role played by informal (here as: inf.) mechs. has been studied to a lesser extent. This paper examines the roles of inf. network players (here as: net-plrs.) in kn. integration and discusses their effects on competitive advantage. For researchers, this paper provides testable propositions and a future research agenda. For practitioners, this paper shows how inf. net-plrs. influence an organization and offers human resource management (HRM) implications. |
