| Abstract: | This paper presents the ownership structure in the co-operative form as an environmental buffer. Co-operative form can isolate itself from competition from other organizational forms. Data from the Spanish olive oil milling industry from years 1944-1998 indicate that other organizational forms are affectec by economic and ideological influences, whereas the co-operative form isolates itself by changing the competition level. |
