| Abstract: | The paper discusses supplier involvement in product development. Even though sometimes one 'best method' has been suggested from studies of one particular industrial context, this paper distinguishes various forms for coordinating such involvement. Three main approaches discussed are: project integration coordination, disconnected sub-project coordination, and ad hoc coordination. The drivers for different types of supplier coordination are discussed and several managerial implications suggested. |
