Abstract:This article tries to find the differences that contribute to the fact that men are more active in entrepreneurship than women. Based on data of the adult population in Germany and by using an empirical model for the decision to become self-employed, the authors consider the impact of several characteristics and attitudes. Their findings suggest that one important factor affecting the gap in entrepreneurship is the difference between men and woman in the extent and the effect of considering fear of failure.
