Abstract:This paper briefly reviews the empirical literature on organizational identity, proposing a novel method for empirical study involving structured interventions. The study has five main implications. By engaging in a method drawing on multiple intelligences, the participants generated multifaceted and innovative representations (here as: reprs.) of their organizations' identities. The object-mediated, playful nature of the method provided a safe context for emotional expression. ... Finally, the organizational identity reprs. integrated unconscious or 'tacit' understandings leading to the enactment of organizational change.
