Abstract:This article investigates the relationship between a firm's knowledge acquisition activities and its environmental commitment. Both regular knowledge acquisition activities and those specific to environmental issues are observed. The data of statistical analyses consists of 136 Canadian small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The results indicate that regular knowledge aqcuisition activities and those specific to environmental issues are positively related to environmental commitment. Results also reveal that SME's use different konwledge sources when acquiring environmental knowledge and that trade associations and suppliers play significant role in this process.
