Abstract:This article compares the level of ethics research published in 25 business ethics journals and the Top-40 journals for the accounting (here as: acc.), finance (as: fin.), and marketing (as: mrkg.) disciplines (hereafter as: dspls). An increasing level of ethics research in the acc. and mrkg. dspls. starting in 1992 is documented. While the level of fin. doctorates reported by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has increased at a higher rate (40.4 percent) than acc. (18.4 percent) and mrkg. (32.2 percent) since 1995, this increase has not been shown in the level of ethics scholarship (as: s-ship) in fin. The level of ethics s-ship in fin. stayed relatively constant from 1987 to 2005 at an average of seven co-author-adjusted (as: co-a-ajd.) articles yearly. However, both the acc. and mrkg. dspls. now regularly publish about 50 co-a-ajd. articles annually.
