| Abstract: | Protected are tourism's popularity is growing worldwide and has huge potential to affect local communities. Whereas traditional assessment methods focus on current conditions and use sustainability indicators to evaluate the situation, this paper argues that new methods that take into account uncertainty and change are needed. The paper examines the impacts of protected area tourism on communities by regarding them as socio-ecological systems and utilizing resilience assessment methods. |
