| Abstract: | The main characteristics of educational policies of universities whose teaching language is German are described. The shortage and defects of their management education programs are examined. Good examples in this field can be found in the US: a number of opportunities offered by universities in management training and development are described. The range of programs offered includes programs for top-level managers /in the form of MBA courses among others/, and those for managers working in the functional areas. Courses for new generations of managers as well as refresher and development courses for senior managers are mentioned. The situation in Austria is described and alternatives for modernization efforts are sketched. |
