Abstract:The future of management and company organization is analyzed. Specialists' task forces and autonomy are found to be the most important factors. The typical large business will have half the levels of management and one-third the managers of its counterpart today. Information technology is described as the background of the changes. Information technology's effects on the management are discussed. The new, information-based organization is described. Most important success factors are summarized. The importance of a set of clear, simple objectives, and responsibility taking is emphasized. Special management problems of the future organizations are outlined. Solving these problems is the management challenge for the rest of the century.
