| Abstract: | The advance of hand-held computer (HHC) has speeded up considerably. Different sorts of HHCs are briefly characterized. The less powerful briefcase computers have already disappeared from the market and at the top end of the scale, the heavy, portable PCs are in real trouble. Some of the reasons for this trend of development is indicated. Efforts are made to bring more clarity into the terminology. Certain practical points are highlighted separately in relation to: software, memory capacity, further development trends and the questions of evaluation. |
