Abstract:Following a long study of the evolution of theories on company strategy, the different approaches in the field are presented and it is demonstrated that a conceptual and methodological framework is emerging that attempts to resolve the new strategic problems encountered by companies today. While in classic strategic approach the company is a technico-economic organism, it is, in the new approach, a factor of production and a social organization. The competitive company has the lowest costs and can better and faster learn, invest and innovate than its rivals. Strategic management strives to sustain the relation struggle-cooperation, e.g. by the new strategies of alliance.
