| Abstract: | Review of the training problems facing operators and maintenance workers in processing industries, related to personal computers with touch-sensitive screens in the food industry. The four reasons for a simulation approach: clarity and comprehension, repeated practice, handling faults, and assessment. Five examples are given. The system design, skill and knowledge inputs needed in computer-based training and simulation. Design decisions and "courseware" questions. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the system as a learning medium. A Graph outlines the simulation application in biscuit manufacture. |
