Abstract:One speaks of learning effects if the amount of labor per unit output decreases as cumulative production increases. Learning effects are very significant in practice, but its modelling is hampered by the arising complexity. A good deal of mathematical programming methods have been proposed, but they generally involve sophisticated algorithms. The present paper develops an alternate framework based on Successive Linear Programming. It only requires a linear programming package.
