Abstract:Given the proper analysis and application any of these techniques is appropriate. The choice depends on the situation but is of strategic importance. Manufacturing cannot make a choice on its own since it depends on four interrelated factors. Each choice must be made, committed to, and reaffirmed on a routine basis. All decisions should be made in the context of the opportunities and not on the basis of an analysis at a point in time. If there are no goals that focus on the personnel, then significant global competitiveness will not be achieved. The alphabet soup approaches are merely techniques to achieve strategic excellence, and should not be implemented in a strategic vacuum.
