COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS

Abstract:A framework is presented which can be used to analyze the impact of various alternative control procedures on system integrity and on the cost of operation. In order to determine the optimal placement and performance level of internal control and correction procedures, a model is used that can track the flows of correct and incorrect data units. A penalty cost incurred by failure to detect errors is incorporated. To illustrate the process of the cost/quality control analyses, the described model is applied with various combinations of parameters.
