Abstract:Many computer subsystems, etc. can be modeled as systems of single server queues with finite waiting rooms. Upon completing service in the first stage, the customer either proceeds immediately to the second stage or, when the second stage is full, remains in the first stage, and thus blocks the first server. Customers arrive according to a state-dependent process and the service processes are state-dependent processes. The steady-state probabilities are obtained. Expressions are derived for the moments of the customer waiting time in the first queue and in the whole system, respectively. A numerical study is reported on that compares various characteristics of state-dependent tandem queues with blocking.
