Abstract:Review of some of the major US corporations located in Chicago that are among the city's top 10 companies: Inland Steel, operating at a 90% capacity, its service centres and chains; Commonwealth Edison, the second largest US electric utility company; Johnson Publishing, the $ 150 million Black publishing empire; Helene Curtis Industries, the hair-care firm with revenue near $ 500 million; First Chicago Bank and its move to full inter-state banking in 1990; and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and its move from trading agricultural futures contracts to foreign currency futures.
