Abstract: | Some macroeconomic considerations about profit-sharing are criticized. It is emphasized that microeconomic aspects - concerning the effects on worker attitudes and incentives, productivity and financial performance - are equally important for public policy and practitioners. Production-function estimates of the profit-sharing/productivity relationship are presented. In contrast to previous work, it is allowed that profit-sharing influences the parameters of production function. A general-to-specific modelling sequence is followed, which encompasses the methodology of previous studies as a special case. A detailed analysis of the results are provided. Some policy implications are highlighted. |
