Abstract: | The paper presents a data driven modeling (DDM) approach to certain types of optimization problems. DDM ensures that control of the complemented model belongs to the users rather than to the developers. This approach tries to enhance the probability that the model will be used. It is important that both the rules and the data can be updated by the users. Another advantage of the DDM that it yields low cost solutions with minimal-effort maintenance. The approach is illustrated on a real-world medical scheduling problem. |
