| Abstract: | Last week label reps gathered to discuss the future of the 3-inch CD single. They agreed that commercial prospects for the CD-3 are not good, and the 5-inch single is more viable configuration. However, the industry waits for the results of a merchandising test that will begin in the next few weeks. CD-3 display pieces will be distributed through WEA to some 1600 retailers.Critics of CD-5 said it might not be profitable due to its higher manufacturing costs. |
