Abstract: | Home affairs select committee supported the proposal that C4 should become a non-profit making subsidiary of Independent Television Commission with a financial guarantee. C4 couldn't maintain its success if it was thrown on the open market. Douglas Hurd, home secretary's new blueprint will ban national newspaper proprietors having more than a 20% stake in ITV companies, and tighten up the rules over multiple franchises. |
