Abstract:The opening of the European Community in 1992 will bring major changes to both internal and external firms dealing in the market. Companies can view this market as either a greater opportunity or a threat to their business. Their domestic market will be considerably expanded, but at the same time they will face more competition. In the unified European market the issue of value-added tax, specific taxes on products, works financed by government, currency, environmental regulations and others must be examined and modified. For some time adding national rules and regulations to European ones will prevail. Businesses must adapt themselves to the new conditions or they will be unable to survive.
