Abstract: | Young women in the late sixties and the seventies encountered procyclical real wage behavior, similarly to their male counterparts. White women experienced a pay elasticity -0.4 w.r.t. unemployment, while nonwhite women did -0.5. Panel data estimates of a selectivity-adjusted fixed-effects wage model also highlights significantly greater procyclical real wage behavior for white men than for white women. |
