Abstract:Most companies want to produce quality products and services - many believe that they already do. Unless the idea of quality pervades the company from top management down, however, quality will continue to be elusive. Only when top management insists on quality will the company begin the journey toward zero defects. When requirements are stated clearly and adhered to, quality service is supplied. There is no question that quality costs money. Most companies, however have not realized that the cost of quality is generally much less than the cost of nonconformance, or what it costs to fix the problem.
