| Abstract: | France's Lyonnaise des Eaux is best known as buyer of four British water companies. After merging with Dumez, the fluid giant firm is extending its reign to encompass the global market. Lyonnaise is not a company which chafes against the regulations; the reverse is true. It prides itself on being very ethical where public-service matters are concerned. The company's characteristic approach is - taking the form of joint ventures and alliances with string local partners. Lyonnaise aims to establish a presence in the Pacific Basin and the Indo-Chinese peninsula, ahead of potential rivals, with whom it could then negotiate joint ventures from a position of strength. |
