| Abstract: | The rapid increase in the use of electronic data processing (EDP) since the 1950s has made it clear that a technically elegant concept may not always prove to be user-friendly. An understanding of users' needs has been rendered more difficult by the fact that specialization in EDP has led to a breakdown in communication between EDP on the one hand and other departments on the other. The article examines various user-friendly models that have been developed in business practice, the conditions required for their successful application, as well as their advantages and disadvantages. |
