Abstract:The market in Great Britain for colour and monochrome film for still cameras is analyzed, covering only products sold via retail channels for amateur use. Disposable cameras are excluded from market size data but are discussed in market sectors section. In 1989, 1 percent value increase in film sales, equivalent to a 7 percent decline in real terms was experienced. In volume terms, there was a marginal increase of 2 percent in 1989. Colour negative film was the only sector showing any growth. Sales of disposable cameras totalled 750/800,000 units and have potential for further growth. Kodak was the market leader. Other large European film markets were generally sluggish in 1989. Tables show trade and sales in films by type, outlook etc.
