Abstract:Benidorm is a second-generation sun and sand mass tourism destination in Spain. This paper provides an analysis of evolution and competitive situation of this kind of traditional mass tourism regions. The results illustrate strategies how hotels in the case area can maintain and improve their competitiveness to meet the current needs of tourists. The analysis proves that all second-generation destinations are not doomed to decline over time.
