Abstract:This article explores the social exclusion and welfare problems (hereafter as: WPs) among different immigrant groups in Sweden and compares them to the problems of native Swedes. The immigrant groups are following: first generation Swedes, naturalized Swedes, Nordic citizens, and non-Nordic citizens. The accumulation of WPs is found to be higher in the immigrant groups. When studying the connections btw. different WPs the results of a logistics regression analysis show that personal economic problems have the strongest connection with other problems in every group. However, the overall connections were strongest among Swedes. Finally it is argued that due to lack of proving results, the social exclusion of immigrants may be caused by discrimination.
