| Abstract: | The concepts of management, leadership, and the science of leadership are examined. It is shown that companies in the East of Europe are unable to adopt to the requirements of market economy by their own efforts alone within a short period of time. Arguments are presented that technology and capital transfer must be supplemented by a transfer of management knowledge. This could be really effective on a new basis of social values and managerial attitudes. An analysis of the most important functional areas of a company as well as its management is provided. The relationships between the company and its environments are described and analyzed. The role of management training in the present systemic transformation is highlighted. |
