Abstract: | The author of the article examines the power generating capacity of Africa. Although the current shortage of power is a major stumbling block to Africa's development the continent has a vast natural potential to become power rich in the near future. The author of the article explains why it is time to wake up Africa's sleeping power. The author considers the following topics: 1. State owned companies in West Africa, 2. Private operators in West Africa, 3. East Africa, 4. Southern Africa, 5. Northern Africa, 6. SA's nuclear option sets go-ahead. The author also provides an inset: "Ideal for Africa", and provides generation figures for selected African states. |
