Abstract:The biggest corporations didn't get bigger last year: they got richer. The U.S. is at the forefront in this period of extraordinary change. What has been good for the number one, General Motors, is increasingly proving good for the rest of the world as well. Thirty-one of the 50 most profitable companies were American, but as the restructuring trend takes hold, more European companies will reap benefits.
